Hope somebody can offer me some good advice. I met this guy almost two years ago in an ICQ chat room. Well we started emailing each other a lot and sending pics and chatting a lot. This month he finally flew over to meet and he stayed in a hotel in town. We had a lot of fun together it was great, but towards the end of the first week I found he really did not know anything about computers :(( and was just really a user. I think I would hate to stay in a relationship where I was totally the technology savvy partner. Is it right for me to dump him, just because he does not understand OSes and can not program? Am I being selfish wanting somone who can boot from a floppy? I hope I have not bothered anyone by posting this here, but I thought I would turn to my friends first. :rose: Janice :rose:

'Janice', it seems that the CPians have had a discussion and decided you're really a guy. Could you please prove them wrong for me ? Just take another photo ( in different undies if you could ), and this time have a book in one hand, ( any book on C++ or the STL will be fine ), and a sign that says 'I am woman, see me browse' in the other. Conversely, could you tell me where you got the photo from ? If it's copyrighted I should remove it from my CP screensaver.... Christian The tragedy of cyberspace - that so much can travel so far, and yet mean so little. And you don't spend much time with the opposite sex working day and night, unless the pizza delivery person happens to be young, cute, single and female. I can assure you, I've consumed more than a programmer's allotment of pizza, and these conditions have never aligned. - Christopher Duncan - 18/04/2002

Janice I think you better dump him before he dumps you. Cause I am sure that the moment he sees this post he's gonna dump you, if he has even an ounce of self respect :-) And you can then start your hunt for the computer nerd husband. Good luck hunting! Nish

Not all the time, but it's good to have a wife with whom you could discuss some issues knowing that she can make sense of what you are saying. The point is we all are quite passionate about software/programming and that passion is not about to die, so it would be nice if your wife atleast understood what you are doing. It would be pretty sad if you do something really cool and you show it to your wife and she dosen't even understand what you have done. "Hello, World" 17 Errors, 31 Warnings... :-D :-D :-D yeah... That reminds me , a long long time ago when i first ventured from the Turbo C++ world into windows programming. I bought a book, Windows programming with Borland C++ i had no idea about Windows API or the OWL library. I wrote my hello world program using OWL and u can guess how many errors and warning i encountered, i didn't even have the OWL library :-D :-D :-D Anyways i think that set me back quite a bit and this was before the Net so i had no idea about how to proceed and this is how i ventured into the world of VB :-O :-O but thankfully i am out of it now. :) :) Do you program in Assembly ?" she asked. "NOP," he said Sonork ID 100.9997 sijinjoseph
