1985 - I was born. Yeah, that's right, I turned 22 today. Have a  or two (or other drink of your choice)!

Happy birthday to you. All I can tell you about the next ten years is that they will go faster than the last ten. Enjoy :-D
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

I'd have a drink, but I'm not allowed (treatment) (I've got a 2l bottle of Famous Grouse Whiskey I've been wanting to sample (I won it at a shoot, worth ~£20 so ~$40) and haven't had the chance). So I'll have a drink but it wouldn't be by choice
Any idea when you'll crack the seal on that?

Isn't that a bit cruel?

It's all finished, as of Wednesday my counts (Neutrofills) were more or less back to a normal person's (1.4 compared to 1.8), potassium was back up so stopped those pills and platelets were normal. So at the moment I'm just taking an anti-fungal syrup (tastes vile), anti-viral pill and another pill as a profalatic (preemptive) measure against an infection that is common on immuno-suppressed people (i.e. high-dose chemopatients and people with AIDS etc). So as far as I'm concerned things are back to normal, I'm allowed to drive again which makes it easier for when I want to go shooting (which is all the time now). The only thing I have to be careful of is infections so no alcohol, nuts are a bit dodgy, and fast-food unless it's been cooked cleanly and there and then. Basically same precautions as when I had the chemotherapy except this time I'm not vaccinated against the usual stuff like Menengitis etc because those were all wiped out. The earliest people are usually able to be vaccinated again is 3 months so that'll be Christmas holiday time. But I've been given the go-ahead to go to Imperial (University of London) but not as enthusiastic as I once was because during my year out I've had a good job working from home for decent pay (for a first job anyway) and it's been really nice to spend the day doing what I want (usually outside or shooting) and working in the evenings. It's also nice when someone's phoned up arranging a shooting trip somewhere I can just say yes there and then. I've had it nice, easy and enjoyable this year and now after America my shooting has become an addiction I think I'll be coming home most weekends just to go shooting

What do you hunt? You should come to South Dakota. People from all around the world come for pheasant season. The mountain lion season has also attracted a lot of attention.

I hope that Dick Cheney is not a regular vistor there.

Happy Birthday! Oddly enough, I was 22 when you were born! I always find it interesting to imagine what I was doing, and somewhere else some little baby was born that one day I'd be posting a response to on Code Project. (It's not good to think too deeply about those sort of things though, I've found. One's brain starts to hurt). Marc

That makes you the perfect woman. Your husband never has to worry about you using something he said last year on March 21, 6:32 PM against him. :) Marc

I'd rather go hunting with Dick than driving with Ted.

I don't actually do that much hunting, just what we call here rough shooting. At home it largely involves taking the dogs for a walk around the farm and just taking a gun and shooting anything worthwhile. During the summer I do some pigeon decoying, I've also been tasked with keeping the local cricket ground clear of rabbits & foxes (thought that is with the air-rifle[^] because it's in the middle of town). Apart from that we have a big problem at home with grey squirrels (especially now) but one of our dogs, Sandy[^] (first picture, far left) is a scarily good squirrel hunter. The other major sport at the moment is rat shooting (because of the duck & sheep feed). Most of my shooting however is clay pigeon shooting, the America trip was to the World Sporting Championships in San Antonio.

Sounds alot like what I do around my yard. Just been competing with my kid's cat since she seems to have a squirrel or chipmunk every so often.

Wow! I was just joking.

I keep telling Mum & Dad that the most useful thing the two pups could do is learn to pick up clays at the gun-club. We've got a good squirrel hunter (who climbs trees whenever she can).
I can just see it: "Here's a few pounds, pups. Go and get us some clays" :->

Nah, the point is they pick up the ones we missed, that way the gun club makes more profit because we can re-use those clays on practice nights.
Got your point. I was thinking you meant going and buying some.
