Usually music. But unfortunately due to an illness about a month ago, I have to keep the sound level down to let my ears heal. So, no music for me all day. :( Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

I have a well tuned formula when programming at home. IRC + AIM + TV on mute + MP3's + Compiler = Happy Lunchy One thing I *can't* do is drink and program, I just can't think straight if I try, so I just give up. Since I'm always hackin on something, I rarely drink. :) -Lunchy

Music, loud when the blue room is lit, and kind of "esoteric" (Ry Cooder is good for this) when the big room only has emergency lights No beer, generally no alcoholic beverages when home alone When I still had a TV, it would run behind me - muted when I'd listen to music. Really a bad habit. TV left, problem solved.

It depends. If I'm at home, or at work on a weekend when nobody else is around, I'll listen to music. Generally 70's rock or 80's fluff. A browser with CodeProject open is also a must. Alcoholic bevereges are not permitted at work here. :) No generalization is 100% true. Not even this one.

I'm with Mike. I work in complete quiet. Also, I can't think in a noisy or cluttered/untidy environment. Because I don't take a break for meals, I eat/drink at my desk. I am dying without my tunes. I've been onsite on this contract for a year now. I tried installing the sound card drivers, but they crash the machine (dual-PIII NT) every time I try to play music AND do something else... I had a happy 2 hours of music or so... can't wait to get on to the next project. :) J I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
