The path to a wiring nightmare begins with that first wire. Marc

Hmmm. Reminds me of a graphics system I saw once in an Air Force flight simulator facility, back in the late 80's. The system provided 32 independent planes of 1024x768 at 32-bit color. It was constructed in four refrigerator-sized cabinets, each containing dozens of 16x16 inch, densely populated wire-wrap boards. Yes, I said wire-wrap boards. The USAF had purchased this thing, sight unseen, based upon specs. The company delivered their one and only uncompleted prototype. The two guys from the company spent months trying to get it to work. As far as I remember, they only got a couple of the planes working before the Air Force told them to take it back.

I like the MD80 pic. It's the neatest wiring job of the bunch, but you still have to look at it and say "No wonder the plane crashed!"

Too many of those look familiar. I was a comms technician in the SA Air Force, between 1988 and 1996, and some postings involved little but maintaining patch boards, some sometimes looked like that. So many 200 pair cables this side, so many that side, etc.
