3D mark 2006
-
Hi, If I have to run 3D mark 2006 on a laptop - with a graphic card, (before I buy it) what is a good or optimum score needed to run games like doom3, HL2, F.E.A.R and the like?

saud_a_k, I dont know much about 3D Mark but I know I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS and I play Doom III, Half Life II with absolutely no problem at all.

I have a HP Pavilion DV5000 (about a year old), with ATI X300, 2Ghz 1GB Ram. I can play Guild Wars fine, lots of 3D in that. It stutters a bit in Supreme Commander videos.

For current gaming get one with a GF7900 or 7950. Both significantly outperform the 8600. The entry level 8800 model consumes too much power to be made mobile. Until a die shrink allows for improved power consumption or DX10 becomes an important factor in gaming last generation hardware is still a better buy.
