Unlock the iphone

Anyone have any sort of luck COMPLETELY unlocking an apple iphone(or know of anyone who has)? I know a couple sites have managed to unlock it to the point where they can do a prepaid plan. I'd like to see it usable on other plans. (Apologies to those who are probably going to excise a limb if they hear the word 'iphone' ever again.

I've seen others claim they have. But I'm not sure. I could be wrong, but I thought it uses a customized SIM card so that unlocking it won't get you onto another carrier very easily. I do know that some sites have posted the disassembled phone. You might want to google it.

I have, but you can imagine the ungodly multitude of various links. My short search yielded only frustration.

I think some guys unlocked one with a hammer and a nail but I don't know that they were successful making a call afterwards.

If I wanted to see that, there are plenty of videos of guys giving their iphone a taste of the cement. Just because they "wanted to see what was inside as quickly as possible". T-mobile has it right if you ask me, I needed a phone unlocked for traveling abroad and then sent me the unlock code the next day.
