Well, as you've come to a .NET site, I'd have to say that we're most likely to answer .Net here.

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

Please stop talking in text speak. Only you can answer what you want to do with your career. I can't give you advice as to what direction you want to go in. What I will say is that I far prefer .Net to Java and I have programmed quite extensively in both.

Hi, .NET is the present, not the future. It has been around for a couple of years, and Microsoft is pushing hard for it to be the one and only way for Windows applications on PC in the future. There have been a couple of Framework versions by Microsoft; and there are other implementations, best known is Mono, which is being used to prove it is not just a Microsoft thing, and also being played down by saying it does not do Windows properly. .NET officially supports several programming languages, including: - an evolution of C++, in order to keep those customers happy - an evolution of Visual Basic, in order to keep those customers happy - C#, the language slightly more structured and powerful than Java - J#, Microsoft's hot-and-cold reaction to Java; it is getting played down completely on this site Java is the present, not the future. It has been around for more than 10 years, and SUN plus a few other companies (including IBM) have been pushing hard for it to be the preferred way for minicomputers, workstations, and lots of handheld and embedded devices (e.g. cell phones, car navigation, ...). There are several run-time environments, big and small, for different circumstances, and they keep evolving. A lot of free Java projects have been backed by major companies, e.g. the Eclipse IDE is backed by IBM. From this, you may have gathered they both exist and will continue to do so for many more years. If you want to choose, it is up to you which story is more appealing to you. If you want to do both, that's viable too; it will be a bit harder on you to keep up-to-date in both worlds though. :)

this weeks tips: - make Visual display line numbers: Tools/Options/TextEditor/... - show exceptions with ToString() to see all information - before you ask a question here, search CodeProject, then Google
