Most annoying experiences with Windows

Hi Everybody, I wanted to know how Windows annoys you most? I get particularly upset when I see message "Your system is running on low memory..... blah... blah..". It ran like a rabbit when the PC started three hours before. :) Onkar Singh

why upset? that is the ordinary info: not the windows system's problem, but the application you are running crashed! :-D :-D
:) zhoujun wrote: but the application you are running crashed! Keep it running for a few days and work only on "Non crashable" apps, even then you will see that informative message. And I don't get them on other OS's? ;) Onkar

I get extremely annoyed when it won't shut down. I select Start > Shut Down > Shut Down and it just won't do it, it bounces me back to the desktop. I'm pretty sure I have no apps running the might be preventing the shut down from going through.

What annoys me most is when for no apparent reason Windows sjust stops working, and I have to re-format my PC. Hasn't happened on my new one yet, but has happened loads of times on the old one, I started gettin quick at gettin it into a working state.

I've been wanting to reformat my hard-disk for month, in order to try to get the thing work a little more smooth (without getting a BSOD at every boot and stuff. Once I even had to delete DISPLAY.SYS to get it to boot :omg:) Unfortunately I've got 7 GB of shareware, misc utilities, source code, images and all kinf of other stuff filling up my hard-disk, and I'd like to keep a lot of it, but I haven't found a solution for backup yet :(

I don't anything unsual to see the message that like one. It would have been good if MS programmer who wrote that module could take the responsibiliy and shown a message "BillFreeMemory() has failed because of lawsuit" :-D Onkar

This question reminds me of what my father would tell me after a bad day of bowling. I'd ask what went wrong and he'd reply, "You took your ball out of the bag." What's the most annoying thing about Windows? Oh, just about everything from the time I boot it till I go to bed. Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible

Onkar Singh wrote: Your system is running on low memory..... blah... blah..". Haven't had that since my 16MB Win95 days. :) My worst niggle is probably when you want to reinstall some drivers. You remove the device from the hardware list in device manager, and remove all inf files and driver files you can find associated with the device to start over. But windows will still manage to find the damn things and reinstall the old drivers automatically. Doesn't ask me about it, oh no. That really needs to be sorted out. Most annoying messages: 1) Running out of memory for no good reason 2) blue screen indicating the system is busy or has become unstable. 3) contact the software supplier to get the problem fixed and it just happens to be Microsoft ( explorer or word or Visual studio or something.) On a bad day I reboot the system about once an hour. On a good day only twice a day. I guess it is just life.

You apps have bugs. Pure and simple. (That or you are running brain dead 95/98/ME.) The only times I ever get those messages under NT/W2K/XP is when I have rogue programs. Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Hmm.. good idea, but I just realized I had a clean 8GB disk in my old comp that I can use for backup :) Now the only problem is to go through all the files to see what I wanna keep... X| *gasp* X|
