So the time has come for me to depart with my home lands and move to bigger and better things - I hope - in the Netherlands. I'm quite enthusiastic about the new job and looking forward to it, but am still looking for rent now in the Utrecht region. Any CPians from NL got some tips for a good rent? :)

I live an hour south of it, you picked one the most expensive cities in the Netherlands. But it's nice there.

The company I'm going to be working for is based in Soest, so I'm not expressly interested in Utrecht. But by looking on this [^]website for rent prices I've noticed they're about the same price in Amesfoort, Baarn or Hilversum, so I figured in this case Utrecht will be a better option. I'm going to have a car as well, so a relatively short commute would not be a problem, if the rent is cheaper. To your knowledge are the prices found on that website the standard rent prices? Or are there actually lower rent prices than advertised there? If I'm not mistaking, I understand there is a Wednesday paper that advertises rents as well.

I have no clue... haven't looked into renting prices for ages. I can only tell you that Utrecht is a nice city, probably nicer than the others you mentioned. But also, be prepared to be sitting in a major trafic jam every day. Trafic jams around Utrecht are among the worst in the country. So I advise you to check out your route and trafic conditions to work. Perhaps the train is a nice alternative.

I wasn't aware of that. I think I'll be looking for rent in the other areas at least for the beginning until I get a feel of the place. Thanks for the help.

Thanks mate. It's something I've been meaning to do for a long time, but I was waiting to finish University. Now that I've graduated I can't wait for a change of scenery. BTW, I've worked for a couple of weeks in our London offices, and I must say I really loved London. Great town!
