Mov files recovery from formatting
-
This could be a long post where I would rant against Sony (may they all die a painful death there!). But it's not. My new laptop refused to start one morning. Some OS problem (this could also be a long rant about Vista). Anyway, Sony came and collected the PC and then decided to format it without telling me. Did I mention that they should all die from a long and painful death? I have now! Source code was backed-up. Some of my latest pictures were not... and a few .mov files neither. I have managed to recover most of the .jpg with Pandora - a GREAT freeware to recover files through surface scanning. May they live a long and happy life filled with fine wine, open-minded girls (or boys if that's their preference), French food and non-French waiters! But nothing to recover the .mov files. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

That's miraculous. I find it hard to believe they would actually do anything. (All they've done for me regarding their computer products is give me wrong answer to a very simple question, and tell me to go f*** myself.) Sorry I don't have a suggestion for your problem. As an ex-Sony customer, I just felt like commiserating. Good luck, I hope somebody has an answer for you. Best regards, BDF

While we're ranting about Sony...have you ever opened up one of their home stereo amplifiers?...the cheapest quality crap imaginable. It's all about the look on the outside of the products at Sony...stay away from them.
No, can't say that I have. Over the years, I've bought a ton of Sony stuff and had very few problems with the gear. Years ago when shopping for VHS machines, a salesperson told me that Sony built their higher-end units but the low-price-point units were made by someone else with the Sony label slapped on. I wonder if that might be the case for the amplifiers that you describe.
