Kevin Mitnick

I was just wondering what people here at CP know of Kevin Mitnick... Have you ever heard of him??? Do you know about him??? What's your stance on him being held???? Are the US authorities [FBI, CIA] afraid of him??? Just wondering...

a) knew the name immediately b) after reading "FBI, CIA" I know I read a lot about him, but I'm not sure if he was the guy to hack into something and now isn't allowed to get close to a computer, or if it was someone else. c) a quick google did tell me that A) it was indeed not someone else butthe story was a bit different, and B) there are some website content providers that assume everybody knows the whole thing

I agree with it because he did break into other people's systems. Brian Delahunty wrote: Are the US authorities [FBI, CIA] afraid of him??? I doubt it. He isn't that great in terms of technical ability. He got into most systems using social engineering. God! I haven't heard that name in years. Kevin had his chances. How many times was he arrested and he continued to break the law? Don't get me wrong. I don't believe that every person that has Kevin's abilities should be unjustly persecuted, but the simple fact is that he's broken the law and refuses to learn from his mistakes. Kevin Mitnik is actually a computer security consulant now I believe. He's famous for several hacks... he also out ran the feds for a long time until he was busted in his apartment. He made a complete fake identity and I think he worked at a law firm for bit while he was wanted by the FBI. Great Guy.

Two o'clock and walking through familiar London - Or what was familiar London before the cursor deleted certain certainties - I watch a suit and tie man giving suck to the Psion Organizer lodged in his breast pocket its serial interface like a cool mouth hunting his chest for sustenance, familiar feeling, and I'm watching my breath steam in the air.
