I am making a setup project for one of our products. No part of this product uses the .NET framework, and .net does not show up as a detected dependency in Visual Studio 2005. Yet, when I try and run the setup program on a computer that does not have the .NET framework installed an error message pops up telling the user they need it? Am I doing it wrong or does the actual installer require .NET? If so which is better and/or doesn't require .NET InstallShield or Wise Install? Thank you.

Not knowing anything about your product I would have to say that, if the setup requests that you install the .NET Framework, you probably need to install the .NET Framework.

if you are creating an *.msi installator or any other that makes use of windows installer tool... you will need the .Net in most of cases. I made the install of my app with the NSIS and it required nothing speciall. Other tool recommended by people that I asked is the Innosetup.
