What they think is a waste of time  On a serious note, argue that the Lounge is like a "virtual water cooler" of the office :)

I need help with something on CP. CP is one of my favourite sites, and I visit it at least 10-12 times a day at work. Out of those visits, 80% of the time I'm on the lounge. And I never seem to get enough of the wisecracking, helpful, and occasionally bellicose individuals who frequent the Lounge as well. Now the problem is, I have recently been shifted to a location which is...well, let's say, visible to everybody entering our building. Since the "yellowish" page is what's almost always seen on my display, the "big 'uns" are prone to be interested on what I am doing visiting such a "waste of office time" site. I don't think it's such a good idea to be letting myself getting "caught" being on the lounge ;P My question is, is there any way I can "mask" this appearance of CP Lounge, so that it does not seem so identifiable. I tried changing the mode to user mode on Opera, but that just makes CP look like a badly designed website from the '90s. :-D Anyone have any ideas if I can change the color of CP or some other way for my browser? Any help would be really appreciated. -- modified at 0:08 Friday 30th November, 2007

It's been a few years, but at one point i had stylesheets that would turn CP green... Download the WebDeveloper toolbar and spend some time using the CSS->Edit CSS utility. You should be able to come up with something.

Regarding this point, you can actually put this point in 'Suggestions/Bug Reports' forum along with the Opera version that you are using so that CP Team can look into the cross browser issue that you are currently encountering. That forum is regularly visited by CP Team to address the issues faced by members and also to get feedback from users by Chris & Co.

If the big 'uns think CP is a waste of time, they need to get a grip...

I am here on CP for just over an year now. I spend much of my time on Lounge (though I hardly make a post here) and I don't think there is anything wrong in spending time here during Office working hours. Honestly, there is a lot of information shared here on Lounge and I should admit that I got to learn a lot here in the Lounge too. :) So, you don't need to hide anything from the so called "big 'uns". If they don't like what you are doing, then let them do what they want. If you ever get questioned for spending too much time here on Lounge, just tell them about the advantages of spending time on Lounge. Also tell them that you spend just about 5-10 minutes every hour or two, the time duration which is same as what they spend for smoking a cigarette, or for having a cup of tea/coffee. ;)
Regards, Vijay. God may not give us what we 'want', but he surely gives us what we 'need'.

Use a tabbed browser and have your favourite article in the primary tab. Now if they argue that you should not be reading articles about your profession then you really do have a problem :-D

True. Particularly when we have Satans sitting on the passing clouds. When even just any Tom, Dick and Harry is considering to be a boss just by virtue of his fortune to drive us nuts, this is a common nightmare and headache to be borne and bore by us. :^)
