Depends. Do you hate your life? Has sanity become a burden which you can no longer bear? Do you yearn, in your quiet moments, for more people who would wish to know your name... so that they might curse it? Does the lack of bullsh*t in your life make you nostalgic for your days as a farmhand? Then yes. ;) (i'm not saying all ERP work is sketchy voodoo crap sold to upper-management with the understanding that they'll never actually have to deal with it themselves. But if someone else wants to say that... :-\ )

Hi Can you please be a bit clear about this..Why do you say such things ??? It is quite important for me to know about it. Thanks
Well, let's talk PeopleSoft. The only dealings i've had with their software are 1) the class scheduling software used by my old school, 2) the payroll software used by my brother's old school, and 3) the HR and payroll systems used by my current employer. They are all just awful. And i don't mean awful in the "ugly and confusing but mostly workable" sense. I mean ugly in the "break really important things if you look at it wrong" sense. Plus ugly and confusing. Every time i need to touch it, even for something as trivial as updating my mailing address, i break out in a cold sweat. Ok, now let's talk ERP. All i know about this is that Oracle ERP is the reason we don't have money to do anything good this year. Someone decided it was just the bee's knees, and blew most of the IT budget on it. Oh, and apparently, the reason they thought it was just all that was because someone told them they could fire most of their programmers if they installed it and got it working. So yeah, this is gonna be fun. I suppose if you work fast, you can get in on that and make a good living off of what should have been our yearly raises. That's ok. It's not like the cost of living has gone up or anything. :| That said, I was almost joking. Not quite, because it's hard to joke about things that cause you pain whenever they appear... but almost. So don't take it too seriously. I'm sure there are worse things on earth than deploying PeopleSoft. Genocide, for instance, at least in cases where it's provable that the people being killed didn't have it coming. :wtf:

Ok so what you are saying is that the software is not so good. hmm so is there good money in this or no ? Are people looking for such consultants or not ? And is it counted as a dignified work or not for a person related to finance ? Thanks
If you want my opinion, then go back and read it. If you want someone else's, then hold your breath. I'm sure there's someone out there who thinks this stuff isn't the Enterprisy equivalent of the Veg-O-Matic With Integrated Finger Slicer-off-er. Maybe they'll show up here.

For what it's worth, my wife works in human resources and she uses Peoplesoft every day. She says it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it works.

Hi, Is it good idea to start a consulting firm which provides specilized services in PeopleSoft Financial Analytics and packaged ERP solutions. Is there good money in this field specifically in States...?? Any one got any clue about it...??? Thanks
Being self-employed I'd have to say that if you are asking this question then perhaps it's a bad idea. I'm thinking you have a few issues here: 1. You don't understand the market you are going into. 2. You are asking us to explain your market to you. 3. You should have had this discussion with PeopleSoft because they will dictate to you what you can/cannot do and where. I'd say for you it'd be worthwhile to sit down and dedicate 2 hour days to establishing a business plan. Yeah I'm serious. You can find numerous samples for plans on the web. Grab one and get started. Your goal (target audience) is to get a VC (venture capital investor) to invest $XXX,000 into your business. You should do some market analysis by investigating demand for what you do. I'd start with peoplesoft but you might even be able to pay for some market research to assist you (don't spend more than $100.00 for that data and make sure the provider is well known). Make contact with another firm/individual who does consulting in this sector but not your region of interest. Ask them for information, their experiences and resources for more information. Try to find a peoplesoft consultant oriented message board. There is a ton of work you have to do and you don't seem to have started off well. Stop right where you are. Get a plan. Get some direction and set aside $300 to fuel your findings. You won't regret the money spent and it may be the difference between $30,000 your first year in income and $90,000 your first year. :)

I hate how hard I work but when I read about what happened at your job I suddenly realize I got it a lot nicer than I used to have it. SAP did it to me and did it good. I implemented the most critical core piece of the product that got me laid off. NICE!

Yeah, there's some real bone-headed stuff happening... It's a real shame to see a company distrust and disrespect good people who've pulled them out of trouble and stuck with them through a lot of tough times. I'm still kinda holding out hope that things will swing back around... but realistically i'm taking the attitude that i should just enjoy the company of what's left of the group while we're still a group.
