I have seen this question asked on another forum but nobody had a concrete answer. What causes brain freeze? If you dont know what brain freeze is it is a intense pain similiar to a headache you get from drinking something to cold to quickly. Why exactly does this happen.

AFAIK, it has something to do with the cold hitting the nerves on the roof your mouth - it's sensitive - that shoots the signal to your brain. I do know that if you get it, stick your tongue on the roof of your mouth to warm it up and it'll go away quickly. Jeremy Falcon Imputek

Cool site, Mike! I forwarded it to my friends that have kids:-) Instead of marrying again, I think I'll just find a woman I don't like very much and give her a house...

Yes, the link gets the job done I suppose. Have I ever suffered brain freeze in winter? Sure. Not as often tho. A bit nippy to be eating icecream if its 15 degrees out.

Cool, and here I thought my only gift was finding extra parts when trying to put something together.

Aaah... It's time to relax. You know what that means: a glass of beer, your favorite ergo chair... And of course, The Code Project loaded on your Personal Computer System. So go on, and indulge yourself, put your feet up. Lean back and just enjoy the articles. After all, CP sooths even the savage :bob:

I heard it's something to do with the ice cream/slurpee cooling an artery in your neck, so that blood flowing to your brain is cold. OW! :wtf: That's what an MD friend from church told me once.
