Another feature for links... [modified]

Would it be possible (Edit: please :)) to add another feature to the automatic link paste feature and/or to the Formatting "toolbar" at the bottom of the editor? I would like the ability to open a link in a new tab (using
tabas the target of the link), now that more browsers offer it. Something like: http://www.codeproject.com/[^][T] Well, this works in IE7, anyway... Peace! Oh, and before someone mentions that the context menu has a selection for "open in a new tab," it also has one for "open in a new window." Having it available directly on (next to) the link is still useful. Edit: The preceding text appears to be too subtle a hint for some. Using something likeSHIFT+CLICKopens a link in a new window. Didn't work for me,either. Shift-click opens in a new tab for me just fine tho.

I use IE7 and my only complaint (as regards this subject) is that clicking ^ activates the new tab after it's opened, whereas if I use "Open in New Tab" it doesn't, so I still primarily use the context menu. I have little use for the [^] at all.

Then something's been changed in your Tab settings in IE. The HTML we render says 'target=_blank' which means 'open in a new window'. 'Open in a new tab' is a new CSS3 thing that we've not implemented.

My browser opens a link in a new tab, if I middle-click on it (IE, FF, Opera, safari). I don't feel the need for any such new feature.

This behaviour, and others similar to it, likely has to do with how your popup or "open new window in xyz" settings are configured. Peace!
