I had to download a 3rd party explorer so that I could get a file explorer that runs as root administrator. I was trying o rename a bunch of files that happened to be in the programs directory so I either had to answer UAC's questions for every file or find a better way.

It's not been fixed although there is a workaround on the web. See here or google for "vista forgetting folder type".

Thanks, Jon, I'll try that. It's also very annoying when the files in an Open File dialog are shown as BIG icons.

Add me to that unique list... ;) . I hate icon views. As for your problem, If you have a folder with .RDP files and use it often, just right click on the taskbar, add a new toolbar and point to that folder. Bingo, you have a popup list of your RDC's right on your taskar. It's a saviour for me, I have about 10 .RDP files in it.:-O

I have TC running 24/7. IT has the wonder full feature where you double click the bar where it displays your path, and it shows you a list of shortcuts (that you can of course add, I even have a VS2005 Prompt one, you can even save both source and target dirs in the 'view').
