I wonder how much money you people out there spend on books about programming and so. And also how often you buy books, if you do... At my previous job I purchased at least 2 or 3 books a month averaging $40-50 US each. These books were almost entirely programming books. At my current employer I have no budget for books so I only buy 1 book every 2 months (or so). If I had a budget for books (or had more expendable income) I would probably be buying 3-4 a month. These books would be about 25% programming, 25% technical and 50% broader topics.

Wow - I did not think I would be beaten so easily. That's about AU$2,500. How much does a book cost you ? About 40 pounds ? Christian come on all you MS suckups, defend your sugar-daddy now. - Chris Losinger - 11/07/2002

The prices vary from between 30-50 pounds depending on the book or if a cd is included. Books without CD don't have a VAT charge (17.5%) - those books with CD have a VAT charge. That can up the price, unless I buy them through my company (which I rarely do) Michael :-) Look, try and use your intelligence, man, even if you are a politician. - The Doctor

In sweden I bought the book "Programming Windows with C# (Core ref)" and it cost in swedish SEK 780... and if I convert it to $ it would be something like $75 (not exactly) Rickard Andersson@Suza Computing C# and C++ programmer from SWEDEN!
