Update on me! (If you care...)
-
I haven't been on CP for several weeks now and I've had a few greeting which I really appreciate! I've had some questions about my job situation so I'll get everyone up to date. I had accepted a job with a small advertising firm that did Ruby on Rails which I had never programmed. I was still interviewing with other companies and I was done at Gateway. During the two weeks between Gateway and the start date at the ad firm, I talked to them about all these big projects they said were backed up. Turns out it was one and two websites to tweak. They were big about this "90 day initial trial period" to see if I would work out. I started to get the feeling that I would get their big project done in 90 days and then they would let me go. I just had a bad feeling. I had two interviews with a company that I really wanted to work for. It's a sub-business of a bank and this sub-business was started by guys that my husband used to work for. They've gone from 30 to 300 employees in less than 3 years. The Wed before I was supposed to start at the ad firm they made an offer which was also closer to pay as I got at Gateway. So this is my second week at my new job and I LOVE it there. Not sure what my final role will be but it looks like I'm going to be taking over the code for a large pre-paid card project. It's so nice to work with intelligent people who don't chew tobacco at their desks or yak about nothing. In the two years I worked at Gateway not ONCE did I get invited out for lunch. I've already been out three times with my coworkers. I wasn't online because I went into depression. Not just "I feel down" but clinical depression. I was just feeling worthless and my poor husband had to put up with a lot of tears and mood swings. So I'm back in the game, feeling good, and spittin' mad code ya'll! I need to update my profile--we're up to four cats now. The newest one's nickname is Nom Nom (if you've ever visited a certain website that talks about cats and cheeseburgers you'll get it). And I'm looking to buy a 4-cylinder scooter for the commute. Hopefully I'll get some time to update my blog. Glad to see the old gang, but SB hasn't changed at all! Thanks all! leckey :-D

And that's a good thing

We can get the regular ones but they are called "Arnott's."
Have a closer look Leckey, Arnotts is the name of the company that make Tim Tams, along with a million other types of biscuits.

My hubbie (Kori) could not make the flight. After 3 hours he goes into internet withdrawl--saw it on the flight to Puerto Rico which is a connection flight compared to a flight to AUS. I haven't been to Canberra either but politics never seemed to be like what they are in the US. In the end run, I don't fit in because I hate Vegemite...but I LOOOOOVE Tim-Tams!(Yes, I can do the slam!)
