I've been using Google Reader forever, but the number of unread items is piling up, and its starting to slow down - considerably. It obviously was not designed for a lot of unread items - it takes ages to open the page. Maybe it'd get better with Firefox3, but I want it to be snappy now :) So yeah, any suggestions for an RSS reader? Desktop app, or online, doesn't really matter, as long as it is fast.

    "impossible" is just an opinion.

I use the one that comes with Mozilla Thunderbird and no complaints here. I tried RSS bandit but the way it handles urls from within got me annoyed and so I moved to Thunderbird.

Plenty of freeware RSS readers including Feed Demon, Newzie, Great News and those that Mustafa suggested.

Man, if you had to find anything older you'd end up with a carrier pigeon's coop :D

I just stopped using it because it wouldn't import feeds correctly (especially xkcd.com and soccer news, so imagine that ;P).

Which one? Bandit or Thunderbird? Because I can't remember trying to import them in Bandit, but they're working fine with Thunderbird.

I'm using newzcrawler[^] and am very happy with it. It's a desktop reader, but has a lot of good functionality.

Thunderbird, that is. Also, I tried importing the Google reader's file and didn't work for most of the feeds.

Hmmm. I haven't had any problems so far, but then I haven't had to import yet.
