I worked as a night manager at an icream and burger shop just around the corner from M.I.T. The raw materials of restaraunt food are not the primary contributor to the price of what is sold. And yeah, they'll fire your ass sooner or later and then you'll start posting in here about what terrible people they were. You are probably right they won't call the cops - but if by chance you are there long enough to qualify for unemployment compensation, they will definitely tell the agency that you were fired and why. i.e. No benefits

Use/sales taxes are always taxes on the poor unless ameliorated. The poor, like you, spend a larger part of their income each week than the middle class or the well off. Huckabee's version of a fair tax exempted the first X amount spent each T (I can't remember the amounts or time frame, but I do remember him harping on the idea of the exemption.)

By the way, that is Fair Tax and not fair tax[^] - this is something popularized by a Georgia congressman John Linder and Boortz. I don't believe it exempts any dollar amount but does deal with the lower end of the economic scale via a periodic (monthly?) check to that lower end of the scale. Huckabee gave it additional prominance after he incorporated it into his platform / talking points. a bit more on the subject here[^]

Individuals would also receive bigger paychecks. I think income taxes from local, state, and federal government should be abolished and replaced with this system.
