I would like to use my hotspot to connect my desktop which does not have a wireless card, to my laptop which has wireless. Is it possible to connect my wireless hotspot unit to my dekstop? It has a lan connection obviously, and I can plug it into a computer to setup the repeater mode, but I want to use my desktop as a router so I can wirelessly transfer files between my desktop and laptop. I'm not a network guru, is there any special software I need? Thank you in advance.

We were grown from cells that came from the universe, which the matter and physics I'm typing in it is amazing how the universe is working. Human life is very amazing. How I experience this sh*t its like wow.

Why do you need to use wireless to transfer files between your laptop and desktop? A crossover cable (ethernet) will do the job quicker and cheaper. If you want to connect your desktop to a wireless hotspot then you'll need to attach a wireless card to your computer - you can probably pick one up for £15 / $30. Alternatively you could connect your laptop and desktop using a crossover cable and then enable internet connection sharing on the laptop so that both machines use the same connection. Maybe if you worded your question a little better you could have avoided so many 'one' votes!! ;P

    It definitely isn't definatley

Well, I don't want to buy a wireless card. I already have this[^], I can use it as an access point or a repeater. I don't want a full blown wireless network. I just want perhaps an adhock network without buying any new hardware. Once I get my CDMA internet back I won't need this[^] thing to rebroadcast my naibors internet anymore, but I still want to make use of it.

Wireless routers are cheap cheap cheap. My advice is for you not to be, and buy one.
