Hello all! I recently decided to try and learn the Dvorak keyboard layout, and was wondering if anyone has had experience with it? Any pointers/suggestions/comments? Thanks,

everyone I know who did so ended up giving up once they found themselves in the position of occasionally having to use other peoples qwerty keyboards.

Hello, In a more serious vein than the others who have replied so far, I wish you good luck with this endeavor. I tried to learn it myself. That was decades ago, in the dark ages. I didn't have an operating system that made it easy to switch back and forth. So I wrote my own text editor that translated from qwerty to Dvorak. That went pretty well but I never around to writing a utility to sit on top of the command line to translate keys and pass the command down to system. I'd like to try again, but have never found sufficient motivation. The biggest obstacle I foresee for you is, as Mr. Neely pointed out, having to use other people's keyboards occasionally. You'll either have to become adept at adapting back and forth, or changes the layout every time you want to use another machine.

bullet proof skin for after the first time you forget to change it back before leaving would also be a major benefit. PS please call me Dan.

Although, i believe that the third letter group should end with a double b: operbb!

I never thought of that! I would never forget, but probably not everyone has my kind of OCD. You are right, that would no doubt piss off the next person to stumble upon the miserable thing.
