Partition Recovery Tools
-
Hi all, I've messed around badly with my Raid system. Without going into details does anybody know a good tool to recover data from corrupted partitions? Please don't flame me for posting in the wrong forum. I have some important (not backuped) data on those drives including some code which should have becom an CP article so I think its worth posting it in the Lounge. Robert

Server Magic (aka partition magic for servers). There are also companies that specialize in recovering corrupted disks (mainly for forensic purposes) 2 cents good luck.

Acronis saved my butt just recently. I recommend it. Mike
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it should't move and does, use the Duct Tape.

Mostly, when you see programmers, they aren't doing anything. One of the attractive things about programmers is that you cannot tell whether or not they are working simply by looking at them. Very often they're sitting there seemingly drinking coffee and gossiping, or just staring into space. What the programmer is trying to do is get a handle on all the individual and unrelated ideas that are scampering around in his head. (Charles M Strauss)

Having bad personal experience with automatic tools, I'm going to recommend a different approach. Use a cloning tool to make a complete copy of the drive to another HDD or raidset, including bootsector, partition tables and unused space, before you let loose any tools on it. If you have access to corporate version of ghost the option to use is called "Image Disk". My personal tool of choice after that is diskprobe from windows support tools (Which comes with your OS CD). But being a very manual tool you of course need to know how NTFS works.

He could use Acronis Disk Director, it has as one of it's functions Partition Recvery.
