Sorry, deleted. Found out it was not that improbable...something like one out of 97,336.

I would assume it's probably just a chaotic pattern. It's like if you go to a roulette wheel, and wait (as long as it takes) for it to hit Red 10 times in a row ... you would think, if you then bet Black next you'd have an advantage ... but you don't. It's still the same odds.

Everything is possible. The chances of this happening again (same ball three times in a row) are 1 in 97336. But of course each ball still has it's 1 in 46 chance of coming up. If you flip a coin you've got two results; heads or tails, you flip that coin enough times and i bet you can gets heads 10 times in a row. It doesn't mean that the heads side has more of a chance though.

I took Discrete Math in college which we talked mostly about the percentages of winning in lottery and card games. Yeah, it seems weird, but it really is random. Each ball has the same chance of winning each day. It is just as possible that numbers 1-2-3-4-5 win. That would seem freaky weird too, but it's still just the randomness. OT: my husband asked me to purchase a PowerBall ticket tonight. There goes a buck.

Yes, a fellow student once had a scheme: keep betting one of red or black, and if your lose, double your bet on the same colour. The other colour 'has' to come in, at which point you win. I ran simulations, and sometimes at took the loss of an astronomical amount of money before the 'your' colour came in. However, in your example, the fact that you still have the same odds means it's still worthwhile betting black after ten reds; just don't increase your bet on black.

Yeah, to get two blacks in a row would be 1 in 4, to get a red would be 1 in 2. The problem? You could also say that the probablility of getting a black and then a red are 1 in 4. The odds never change, there's no point in having a system (unless the system is to cheat ;) ).

My system is to not play roulette.  My odd R20 for eight Quick-Pick Lotto lines is as far as I go.

Totally agree, in Spain there was something like that some time ago. One lotery system 5 round containers with balls from 0 to 9 in each, once one of the big prices went to the number 02468.
