Wired article

There was an article on cyber squatting in Wired.com, and they reported on how an anti-abortionist activist redirects www.teenswire.com to his abortion site. I went to that address, and I must say he converted me... Those fetuses look just like newborns. If you go to that site, be warned it is very graphic and not work safe.
Martin Marvinski wrote: I went to that address, and I must say he converted me Did you ever do that English comprehension where you were fed ridiculously biased anti-fox hunting propaganda and then asked to comment on your interpretation of the topic? I could make you believe anything I wanted to by repeating the same old one sided trash over and over again - especially if I could find some nice juciy pictures to stick captions containing identifiable words such as "him" and "his" (the latter is always better as it is distinctly more humanising). Media such as that attempts to use guilt and shock tactics to convert the weak without them requiring any thought on such an undesirable topic - they don't even bother with their own supporting facts. I thought the picture showing the 'little boy' with 'an agonised look on his face' was particularly amusing in this respect. The cream on the pudding is that they link abortion ot nazisim without seeing the obvious flaw in their argument. Free speech is one thing - this is another. This get's nothing more from me than a "puh-lease". :|

You totally missed the point. However, on your new thread of conversation: yes. I don't personally kill animals for sport any more than I do humans, but you have to grasp one concept, and that is that pain and cruelty are common to life itself. The way a fox will kill a chicken is no more cruel than the way a pack of trained dogs will kill a fox. We [humans] use the same reasons for the killing of animals, ourselves included, that the very same animals do themselves. Some do it for food, some do it for the thrill, some do it for social or politcal reasons, some do it because they know nothing else. I do not believe in a divine being or power of any way shape or form - I beleive that all life is sacred, be it mine, yours, a fox's or indeed the potential life that a foetus may or may not occupy - but I also believe that we should all obey the same rules. What elevates us is our use of our intelligence, not some morality that makes us "better" or "more sacred" than other life forms. Martin Marvinski wrote: I don't like fox hunting one bit because it is cruel. I don't know if the school you attended had a drama class, but just repeat that line to yourself in your best impression of a five year-old at a Christmas nativity play.

I'm a godless atheist and I now believe abortion is wrong. Colin, are you opposed to this proceedure as much as I am?

[serious] Haven't checked the website, but I have seen plenty of bottled fetuses in labs and still-borns being autopsied. Definitions between fertilized-egg - embryo - fetus - baby - person are a load of crap to me. Just meaningless words used by people. As far as I'm concerned if I can't determine the differences, then no one else can. I'm Anti the abortion "industry" similar to what the USA has. Natural abortion occurs for a number of reasons and is a totally separate issue. However there is an interesting correlation between abortion eligibility and lowering crime statistics in the USA. I bet a cult would just love you, everything you see and hear you tend to get converted by... however you do seem to see sense after a few weeks, or at least you did with all that Christianity stuff ;-) Michael :-) Look, try and use your intelligence, man, even if you are a politician. - The Doctor

The thing to me is that the issue is so not 'black and white'. Am I against abortion ? Yes. Do I have the right to impose my will on a girl who has been raped ? No. Do I have the right to impose my will on any member of society ? No. I am astounded at the hypocrisy of people in the US who kill abortion doctors. Beyond that, would they rather an unwanted child is raised to know that it was not wanted, and at some point their kids go to school with this (through no fault of their own ) maladjusted individual ? More to the point, they won't BE at school, they will be robbing someone at knifepoint. Christian come on all you MS suckups, defend your sugar-daddy now. - Chris Losinger - 11/07/2002

IMHO: Liberals like you should have your eligibility to vote denied and be sent over the border to Canada or Mexico when you are seen whelping. The US was built on strong characters, and hanging folk even when they are innocent is the price you must pay for having a good sheriff in town, who doesn't take crap from gutless inbred urbanites. Which part of that made me a liberal? As Christian pointed out there is a great hypocrisy for saying one is pro-life but then turn around and kill someone because of their job. It is also hypocritic to kill someone via the death-penalty. That is why I said 'innocent' people. I'm not against the death penalty; but since the Harvard (?) law students are setting people free by use of DNA evidence, we should also use that as a means to give the death penalty. There are many people on death-row that should be there. Perhaps I should have widened my death penalty guidelines to mean 'when there is no doubt that the guilty did it'. Then again, in order to be found guilty it has to be a unanimous decision by the jury anyway so it seems that its just over-doing it. If you couldn't tell I hadn't thought this completely through before; I've only gone as far as justifying it with the law students. Thanks Colin, I think its time to retract that bit. ;) Now if we could get all jails/prisons to implement that Arizona sherrif's jail system of chain gangs and labor work. James "Java is free - and worth every penny." - Christian Graus

Even if they didn't actually do it, there's a good chance that they're still guilty. So they may get punished for the *wrong* crime; it'll all come out in the wash eventually...
