I hate Vista

No, there are many of us who feel the same. I think what I'm getting paid to do is act like a professional developer and ensure the software I write runs on all modern Microsoft os's and as part of that I did a lot of research on vista about 2 years ago and learned a good deal about it and how it works and as a result I've had an easy time running it. I would not go back to XP at this point but I'm happy to upgrade to something newer if it comes along. I mean I like Vista and find it works solidly but it's far from the mythical ideal os.

fair enough ... i respect that answer ... my take is simply that vista is in fact the new ME ... people managed to get that working well enough in the day too but as soon as the next OS version came out everybody breathed a collective sigh of relief and moved on i tried vista on a pretty decent machine for a good 3 months day to day and just found it got in the way of the things i was trying to do (like connect to my win smart fone) and that it ran slowly ... i consider myself to be knowledgeable enough to configure a machine correctly so i discount that as a reason if i had to support customers running my software on vista then of course i would run it like it or not but fortunately im not in that position so i get the luxury of being able to skip a generation thanks for the reasoned answer tho :)
