Hi. When i open my solution in vs2008 i get the following error: "package 'visual studio explorer and designers package' has failed to load properly (GUID {XXXX....})" When i try to build my solution, i get an error saying: "External component has thrown an exception." I have tried googling the solution (uninstalling duplicate.outdated assemblies from "C:\WINDOWS\assembly" but it does not allow me to). Can anyone help please? Thanks M

At first glance I would say their is an overlapping GUID that is used by multiple applications. GUIDs need to be unique from all other applications installed on the system. I would try reinstalling/repairing the installation of Visual Studio 2008.
