Would Web hosts steal..
-
...files? I don't get this basic concept. I spend a thousand buck to build a website and I keep the files open in my web host's server as web pages. So, 1.Wont they be copying my code and just replace the styles to make an identical one somewhere? Also I give the connection strings to DBs as plain as that. Should I encrypt or do something about it? So that they wont steal my customer base?! OR 2. I have to trust them?

Interestign question. Yes, you have to trust them. They have physical access to the computer your stuff is running on, so it is not your computer anymore. You also have to trust your admins[^] - so moving the web servers into the company doesn't really help. OTOH, Why should they steal your style sheets? Do you really NEED to store important information on the web server? Yes, sometimes it is unavoidable. Having a web site that sucks and no critical data on the web server is the best protection against this attack. You can also bang stones together instead.

Run your own server if you worry about this. Otherwise trust your web-host :) (I'm pretty sure that your trust and their continued business is worth more than copying your site or selling your customer database.)

After putting a lot of crushed papers into the bin, I've at last designed the flow so neat that it can be reused so easily. Now it's almost looking like a package. I made it so customizable for my own needs and now I feel I should have made some friendly fires inside. Obfuscate C# code in asp.net ? possible?

There's a 3rd option : Threaten host about the consequences . You look like a honest man. You get the invaluable honor of winning my trust. So, can you set up a machine for me to run my site for free? as a tribute? rofl. :joke.

Here's my attitude: if I deal with a company making a lot of money through web hosting, how much would they lose if they stole from me and I broadcast it on the web ?

Doesn't just apply to web hosts. Negative word-of-mouth advertising, especially now when it is much easier to reach a global audience can have a much higher impact than any amount of positive advertising.

Agreed - I use this rule to feel secure about things like using Amazon ( seems obvious, but some people are still scared by the idea )
