Hi, I was burning a number of copies of a DVD from an ISO image in a single batch last night and noticed an odd phenomenon. These are short promotional video DVDs I created for my wife's business. After the first couple of copies, the size of the material written to the DVD would gradually increase with each succeeding DVD. After I noticed this, I started burning in shorter bursts to try and let the burner cool, but this obviously slows down my overall production rate significantly. I have a vague suspicion that that this was due to the DVD mechanism heating up due to heavy usage, but this is not founded in solid knowledge. Can anybody provide further insight as to what was happening, and if there is anything I need to watch out for? Thanks in advance.

How do you verify this? Also, what burning program do you use? You might give Imgburn http://www.imgburn.com/[^] a try.

I was using K3B under Kubuntu 8.04 . The interface displays the size of the data for the current disk being written; as each disk was burned the number gradually started rising. I've found that this setup is faster than burning on any other machine I own, including a significantly faster XP machine.
