Warhammer 40,000 Anyone?
-
Do any CPians play Warhammer 40,000, or another Games Workshop Tabeltop Battle Game? I'm just curious as I'm privately working on a program to do with the game and I'm wondering if anyone who plays would think it a good idea. I'll see who responds to this before I tell you what it is =) (and it's not another Army Builder, just for your information) Personally, I play Eldar in Warhammer 40,000 as you can tell by my profile. Sincerely, Alexander Wiseman Est melior esse quam videri It is better to be than to seem

I'm quite happy with their Lord of the Rings Battle Game but the closest I've come to WH 40K is the via the card game (and the minis I've got from MB's Star Crusade/Space Marine game) . My youngest brother used to be an avid player of Warhammer Fantasy Battle (big fan of Undead armies) but lack of other players and the disappearance of gaming shops where we live put a stop to that. As for other miniature wargames : I'm a big fan of AOG's Babylon 5 Wars game (and just started with their B5 GROPOS game)

Cool. Does AOG's Babylon 5 Wars game have different "armies" like in Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy? Sincerely, Alexander Wiseman Est melior esse quam videri It is better to be than to seem

Basically the game follows the canon established by the series with regards to fleet composition. The four main races and the several minor races each have their own strengths & weaknesses and unique "flavour". For example EarthForce ships are slow and as agile as a flying brick but armored like a kevlar turtle and have very concentrated firepower (as in don't ever fly in front of them), the Minbari on the other hand have fast , sleek, agile ships with lots of long range weapons which are spread all around the ship , hence lacking Earth's ability of delivering whitering volleys. The point system keeps things further in balance (similar to Warhammer) by allowing the Earth to field two or three ships for each Minbari vessel. For fans of specific races the game provides fleets for almost every race from Drazi Warbirds to Vree Battlesaucers. It even allows you to play the Ancient Races such as the Shadows & the Vorlons. The game does lack special characters such as they appear in Warhammer. Even a grand admiral is basically a small modifier (purchased during fleet construction) with only a limited effect compared to say a Ulrik The Slayer from the Space Wolf Chapter.
