I am looking for a product (open source or not)/ code framework that I can use as the base and to quickly develop e-Commerce & Web-CMS (Content Management Sysmtem) type solutions. This product is expected to cut off the development time and also the cost and delivery small to medium web solutions to our customers (these customers are looking for fast, low cost solution). When you use an existing framework, yes there will be certain limitations. We are happy to deal with them as long as the product support all major feature of web CMS and generic e-commerce applications. I ran around the net during last few days and found couple of possible options, but thought to get some suggestions/ hints/ views from you all as well before concluding any.. G.

I've never used an ORM system, but people I know who have, swear by them. Is that what you're looking for, or something with more content stuff built in, so you can quickly create sites that look like the other sites using the same system. Either way, I'd suggest your best bet is to look for help forums for the systems you're evaluating. If there's no help, run. If there is, then look at the sort of questions people are asking ? Do they sound like a learning curve issue, or do they sound like a lot of people can't make the system work ? Remember tho, there are stupid people everywhere, look at the aggregate of questions, every system will have at least a couple of people posting 'this stupid thing does not work'.

DotNetNuke,, the learning curve is bit on the expensive side, Joomla seems right and is in my list underconsideration.. I need to check Drupal. Thanks Steve for taking time to reply. G.
