A friend just sent me this link via IM http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/204941/eb3c228e/zeg_het_met_watervallen.html[^] Now I happen to think this is cool. That probably makes me a geek. The really worrying thing is that my first reaction was "ooh - a giant ink-jet printer..."

I saw that two years ago in a trade fair in Nuremberg. It was in the SIEMENS booth and it was as awesome as that... not as long as this one, but it was amazing. But this is really cool, controlling the valves on top and making the pump to work is something easy, but the interface that is involved must be cool...

I saw something like this 2 or 3 years ago at the auto show in Detroit. It was really cool - they were shooting out the logos of the car makers in the water.

Now that's funny. I work for a company that makes commercial, high-speed inkjet printers. Our printers use arrays of parallel jets from 1" to 9" wide, and we have the "printing in air" demo thing at the trade shows.
