What's wrong with having the Java/LAMP stuff in the newsletter?

"The clue train passed his station without stopping." - John Simmons / outlaw programmer "Real programmers just throw a bunch of 1s and 0s at the computer to see what sticks" - Pete O'Hanlon "Not only do you continue to babble nonsense, you can't even correctly remember the nonsense you babbled just minutes ago." - Rob Graham

Nobody uses it. It's kind of like getting updates on the new innovations of the Model T Ford. I mean... yeah the Model T is cool but ... it's old, not very efficient, it got you what you wanted but not nearly as fast as the technology that replaced and well... :rose:

Nobody uses which? Java or LAMP? To be honest, the last time I programmed in Java was in college for a little while. LAMP, well, I still do have projects in LAMP and have fun integrating it with all my .NET stuff :)

Nobody uses LAMP? Not very efficient? Pardon me while I p**s my pants laughing. I'd much rather setup & develop for Apache + Python + (some Python framework) + some FOSS database setup than ASP.NET+IIS+SQL Server. No IDE support? Yeah, I'll grant you that. Do I *need* IDE support for Python etc...nah.

To me it is the same as getting information about VB, I could care less. I have my settings all set to C# and C++ as far as I can see and really have no interest in all this other stuff.

You (should) only get Java/LAMP stuff if the article in question contained another attribute in which you are interested (eg a Java article that deals with C# interop or something) If this isn't the case then please forward me your latest newsletter and I'll investigate and post a bug report.

                cheers, Chris Maunder

It was the Java/LAMP contests and their articles. I do not have the newsletter any longer.

That was done on purpose. Those guys wrote the best article in their space so I thought they deserved a lot of praise. Hopefully it will inspire others who aren't aware of our new Java/LAMP stuff to pitch in and contribute as well.

Hard to imagine there would be any memebers who do not know about it by now ;)
