Why is it that at home, I just adore programming my projects, and at work, it can't get myself motivated to program their projects? Time to start my own business?

I know what you mean, its a good feeling when you complete a project which you know you are going to recieve the full financial benefits from!(excluding tax obviously) I always think it would be good to come up with a third party control(Say an add on to another companies website i.e. booking system, shopping cart) which you can install at sites for businesses which require minimal support and then just live off the royalties of that rather then standard web development.

The answers posted by me are suggestions only and cannot be used in anyway against me.

What are your 'projects'? Have you considered who would actually buy the stuff? My home work is generally /fun/ stiff. If I colide these two protons will the world implode, that kind of thing. Where as most of my work jobs are pre-ordained. My joy comes from the fact that I can decide how the solution will be achieved.

Panic, Chaos, Destruction. My work here is done.

Starting a business on my age would be legal, if that's your question :suss:

Not necessarily.... You can change jobs, or change your attitude. All three are valid choices, but highly dependent on circumstance. You should start your own business when you can make money and motivate yourself even if the customer leads you in a direction you don't enjoy as much. The customer is not always right, but he does pay the bills, so you don't always get all the choices on your own either!

Because for your projects, your the boss, you get to make the decisions. For their projects, you have to be a "team player". Dictatorships are fun when you're the dictator. Marc

Maybe the endless stream of needless and annoying adjustments play a role too. Programming often offers a good place to rethink your business. But they almost never do! They just want you to program their chaotic business rules! Maybe I should switch jobs :)
