Did anybody just receive the Comcast Update to Acceptance Policy? The one that says you only get 250gb/month. Is this an indication their network or should I say the technology they use has started to reach bandwidth limits? As we approach the age of internet Video for movies/tv/commercials/etc, video conferencing, telecummiting, i-gaming, etc. these folks have to know they just said 'No' you can't grow with us to the common public. Assuming they aren't idiots, the only reason they could say 'No' that I can think of, is bandwidth limit. Or are they just idiots? (don't answer that, but I know you will. :P )

I believe it is $59.00 for 8Mbit down / 1MBit up and no limit, static ip addresses, 25 email accounts, and you are permitted to run servers.

Well, my bandwidth cost is R250 and the line rental is R450. I have not seen many places give much more than 3-4gb for R250.

Shame, I get 3gb/month (and thats combined usage) and pay US$100 a month for a shitty service. Stop complaining...

Can you get it cheaper by taking a flight to the location of the server, and then getting the information yourself?

Hmm... an average of 8GB per day isn't enough?

well you mentioned a line cost of R450(which is more than i pay for my 4mbit line BTW), which must mean your hosting it privately and not with a company that does hosting?

Well the base Telkom rate is R413 excluding phone line rental (which I have to take). So where do you get yours from? Or are you forgetting about the VAT and compulsory phone line rental?

What amazes me is that people clearly want as much bandwidth as they can get and the providers clearly seem uninterested in providing to the customers what they want and instead try to cap it. We're all paying good money to these guys, it's surely their responsibility to ensure we get what we want. I think you're right, there's a technical issue of capacity here that is being reached because they are not investing any profits in upgrading their systems as substantially as they should be.
