Why should we send our trained fire fighters to risk their lives fighting fires in the States? Why would you even need us to? If you had half a clue what you're talking about you'd know that we source all sorts of fire fighting equipment from many places around the world for our summer fire season as so many countries including the US. Personally I like Elvis, I'm pretty sure he's owned by the Canadians

I think you'll find they get paid the same no matter where they work. Im sure they receive a travel allowance but I doubt its personally profitable for them. Knowing a few rural fire fighters I can tell you they take great pride in their work and many also volunteer in their own time for their local communities "These men and women who traveled from Australia to the United States to assist our firefighting efforts deserve our thanks for risking their lives with such bravery and such professionalism," Kempthorne said. Contracts are wonderful things, and sometimes they are enforceable. A sad fact, but true. However, if you hadn't been so eager to turn a discussion about a rented airplane into a personal attack on me, you might have noticed that I allowed for the possibility that Oz would reimburse California if the plane was destroyed and I said, "Would they come up with the money to buy a new one. . .And even if they did, the delivery time would leave you unprotected for at least a year." I trust that you see now that I had already answered your questions - some of them before you asked. Do you have any more?

You've dominated this place to such a degree in the last year or so that many of the people who were interesting to talk to have mostly, like me, given up on the place. This thread is a great reminder of that. Sam hasn't woken me for weeks, in fact sleeping with a baby in the room has been far easier than sleeping next to a heavily pregnant woman. This weekend we're going to move him into his own room which will be interesting.
