go take a look you lazy bugger! Oh, and I think this drive is the same as the Benq DW1625 so you may be able to find drivers for that. And drivers for a DVD drive? Do you really need drivers for it?

I have a DVD writer (Hp 640c Lightscribe) and accidentally I uninstall the driver. I went to HP site and search for download drive link but didn't help. Can anybody provide me good site for DVD writer drivers.
How long ago did you delete it? Maybe it isn't too late to try a Restore...

I've used http://www.driverguide.com in the past when the manufacturer didn't have a driver (usually because the hardware predates the Internet :) ). They seem to have a very extensive list of drivers. They do require registering with their site. If I needed a driver the mfg didn't have, they would be my first stop. Unfortunately, I couldn't change my email address when I changed ISPs and now can't log in anymore, so I wasn't able to check if they had your specific driver for you.

Have you tried Windows Updates? Recently, in the course of having one of my machines repaired, I purchased a parallel port card for a new motherboard that didn't come with parallel support. My tech guy was going nuts trying to get a driver from the vendor (they wanted him to jump through all manner of hoops to first create an account. Sheesh!) I told him to leave it, and I'd handle it myself. When I got the machine home, I went to Windows updates. Sure enough, Windows detected the new card had no driver, and Windows Updates offered one. I said "Yes," then downloaded and installed it. When I went into Device Manager to check it out, sure enough, it was from the very vendor that made it a pain to get on their site.

The catch is that WU updates can lag badly behind the manufacturers state of the art. It matters less for somethings than others, but with graphics cards it's a huge issue if you're running newer games/3d apps.

I haven't seen anyone charging for drivers - ever. But some sites archive old drivers. You might also call HP and whine. I recently bought a new HP printer, installed it, and found that it had no drivers for Win2K3 Server. I searched the website and found nothing, snivelled to online support and was told that, since the product was intended for home users there, was no driver for a server. It said "Windows 2003 Server" on the box. I called and eventually got a real person who speaks English, and she admitted that they have a secret website where they stash software they're ashamed of (I assume). She sent me a link to click via email and voila! There was my driver... Nice printer, lousy service. BTW - I have a 740 drive; if you think that driver might work on your 640 I can try to locate the installation disk and email you the files on it.
