do these manager types go to some special training to learn to talk like they do?? I was just at a department Q&A session where the boss spoke at length after each question but never really answered the tough Qs! it was eerily like being inside a Dilbert cartoon listening to the pointy head :sigh:

It's exactly the other way 'round: They are becoming managers because they talk the way they do. :) The kind of meetings you describe are not for answering questions but for providing a stage to assure some people how important they are. It's about politics, not about real work... Regards Thomas

Everyone has a natural ability to avoid really answering a question. Developers do it when queried on progress as well, but managers have nothing else to do.
