Im tired with programming, tired with the quality of this site going downhill, tired of the poor quality of articles... can anyone suggest any better sites that are a better quality?

So try something else. I've been a dishwasher, cook, mechanic, waiter, salesman, stock broker, real estate broker, parts counter clerk, hardware store manager, restaurant manager, PC repairman, college teacher, karate teacher, electronics engineer, electrical engineer, plus a few dozen hobbies I could turn into a career. Sometimes I program a little, too. Lots of choices out there...

Hmmm. I've been here since the beginning, though I just missed the birth announcement, and all I've noticed is steady improvement. You should have seen the days when the site crashed with more than 1,000 users online. It was pretty grim. Sure, we've got more morons posting these days, but there's no entrance exam, and we're approaching 6 million members. I find it easy enough to ignore the few bad apples in the barrel.

So, what have you contributed? Maybe you can help reverse the trend, if trend it is. In a day when people actually publish their most idiotic moments for all to see on MySpace, FaceBook, and YouTube, is it any wonder that newbies are inclined to share their exceedingly minor moments of programming discovery with the rest of us? Globalization is also partly to blame, as we have members from all around the world, and English is not a required subject in schools everywhere. To say that some of the writing skills seen displayed here are 'quaint' is to be overly generous, but they're trying. Hell, I wrote one of the all time worst articles ever posted here, and all I got was helpful, patient responses from the very decent folks who dwell among us. I only posted it because I felt guilty for having learned so much here, and returned so little. Maybe somebody even newer might learn from what I did, I thought, so I posted it. Nobody bitched about standards slipping then.

I've never seen one, nor has anyone else here. We'd be there if such a place existed. If you're not happy here, you're going to be miserable elsewhere, but I encourage you to look. Unhappy members make for unhappy sites, so I suggest that you

This site is a victim of too much love. There's just as many good articles as there ever were, there's just more bad ones than there used to be as the community has grown. There's not a better developer community on the web, that's for sure. The one place that I get frustrated is the low level of questions asked, but, that's just a sign of the times, that happens everywhere else, too.

Okay; find something else to do for a living then. There are all sorts of interesting professions out there, from thoracic surgeon to gigolo to Presbyterian minister to bag-person.

I'll debate you on that one. I believe CP as a site has continually improved in the time I've been here. The folks running the place do a bang-up job of keeping it running reliably under ever-increasing traffic loads and evermore rebellious hamsters. I'm especially impressed given that CP would have to be a moderately high profile target for net vandals (Microsoft-centric developers? are you kidding? they'd love it).

No. Please note how I restrained myself from noting how rude your question is to the people who run CP. It's like standing in the middle of a tavern and shouting "WHERE'S A BAR WITH BETTER DRINKS?".

I was a high-paid whore myself at one time. We had a task-order contract for the USAF. We'd get a phone call asking for some sort of military-inspired perversion, my boss would pick one of us skanks to implement it, and the company founders made a pile of money. We bitches got slapped and put back on the street when the founders neglected to work on getting the contract renewed.

Didn't miss it first time and after another 17 readings I still don't think I missed anything. Gary was taking the piss, not about my unwillingness to share cause I'm stingy, just that I drink so much there wouldn't be enough for anybody else. All in fun.
