Just received this from MS: Dear CHRIS, We’ve noticed that you have chosen to stop receiving communications from Microsoft. We’d like to take this moment to ask you to reconsider. To join the Microsoft community again all you need to do is update your contact preferences. ... We hope that you will be part of the Microsoft community again. Maybe it's just me but this really pisses me off (mainly because it's not caught by the spam filter). I mean, if i wanted to receive emails i would have checked the stupid box in my profile. Trying to understand the logic behind sending me this is causing my mind to have a conniption. - Am i a moron that doesn't understand what i was setting in my profile ? - Do they value me so little as to ignore my preferences ? - Do they get some kind of kick-back on each email sent out ? Aside from that, i have an active MSDN account and visit the MSDN forums, MS project site(s), develop almost exclusively for their OS's ... i thought i was still part of the 'MS community', foolish me.

...cmk The idea that I can be presented with a problem, set out to logically solve it with the tools at hand, and wind up with a program that could not be legally used because someone else followed the same logical steps some years ago and filed for a patent on it is horrifying. - John Carmack

The logic is that, while this email could piss you off, and then you wouldn't want to listen to them, you have already said you don't want to listen, so they have nothing to fear.

Paper clip: I see that you want to work without assistance, would you like me to help you with that?
