Exactly who is the stupid one - the cops or the mother. Seems to me that I can remember getting burnt to hell and back at the beach when I was a kid. Didn't do a lot of harm to me that I can tell ( there may be argument from some corners on this ). Does this mean that if I go out and get a sunburn that I can be arrexted for attempted suicide ? Actually I guess I would say they both are rather stupid. The kids were obviously neglected, and the Police officer seems to have over reacted (though I saw no pictures of how bad off the kids were). Ryan Johnston

I think seeing how bad the kids were would make a big difference. The article said 2nd degree burns - that's fairly serious... not sure if they would be life threatening though. Third degree burns are life threatening. There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.

I really think that is the key. We don't have a good idea how badly the kids were burnt. Tim Smith "Programmers are always surrounded by complexity; we can not avoid it... Reminds me a quote from Saturday Night Live sketch: "I'd like to apologize for the last time when I said all Americans are fat and stupid. We should not generalize - some of them are fat, some are stupid, and some of them are fat and stupid. This would be more accurate" ;P Vagif Abilov MCP (Visual C++) Oslo, Norway If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them. Jack Handey, Deep Thoughts

Well they said the children had 2nd degree burns... Thats a pretty severe sun burn if you ask me, but 15 years in jail? I believe that is a bit harsh.

Nope. Sunburn in Texas is like the common cold - everybody gets it. We only execute killers ( and not all of them ). Richard Between believing a thing and thinking you know is only a small step and quickly taken. Mark Twain- 3,000 Years Among the Microbes

The mother's an idiot. I had many a blistering sunburn as a kid but it was while out of my parents' jurisdiction that it happenened. I am one of the lightest skinned bastards around though. The youngest one had a collapsed lung from heat stroke and dehydration, according to the local television news reports I saw earlier today. Rather than put her in jail, they should put her in a microwave for 30 seconds, with foil panties. That'll teach her. X| Josh Knox that-guy.net
