I'm dismayed to see that the quality of articles awaiting approval haven't improved at all in terms of suitability. 2009? Ho-hum...

The system is bogus. All we can do is vote (which gets ignored), approve, and wait. Or just ignore them all. Now if we approve the better ones, and don't approve the worst ones, the average quality of the remaining "articles" drops, unless there is a system that automatically removes the unapproved ones say within 24 hours. But that does not happen automatically/at all. Furthermore one mistake or bad judgment by a single gold member is sufficient to let anything through. What we need is: - gold voting before approval - as soon as 10 (or whatever) votes have been cast, the article is either approved or rejected depending on average vote; anyway it goes off the list. What we also want is better filtering; articles should be rejected based on: - presence of boilerplate text - lack of content (just measure length!) - inbalance between code and text (inside/outside PRE tags) - bad formatting all this can easily be automated and explained.

Reject and bookmark, then if it gets through 1-vote it (and hit reject again). No point in 1-voting non-approved articles anymore. I agree that the approval should be based on an average rating over some minimum number of votes.

We need a www.crapproject.com where all the bad articles can go.

I still say it's a bad idea, but that's just me.

Yeah, I remember, however: - there are several on CP already; - mine will focus on performance, and is growing very long already, so I don't expect a lazy audience to be interested. :)
