The guy was fired and decided to strike back - but failed.[^] I know of 2 situations where something like this was actually accomplished, albeit a long time ago. The first was done by a friend of mine who early in his career was responsible for a company's payroll system. On a lark he built in logic that prevented the company from ever terminating him from the system. He eventually left the company to become an independent consultant but forgot to disable the code. He eventually got a call from his old boss who simply asked, "okay, how the hell do we get rid of you?" The system had continued to cut him payroll checks. The second was done by a computer operator for a New York based life insurance company. The operator had also been fired and walked through their tape library with a magnet, destroying the content of a significant number of tapes. I am only aware of this one because the company I worked for at the time was contracted to rebuild the content of some of these by reverse engineering the content of the disk files. Many of the files he had destroyed were input to processes that built rate and plan files. As long as they needed no changes to plans or rates everything was fine, but ... This was an unusual insurance company, I remember once when they had to approach their maintenance man for a loan. He was "connected" and arranged for the loan.

Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.
