I've got a series of audio files that I need to split into separate samples; a quick google[^] gives me about a half million results; since I'm feeling exceptionally lazy today, can anyone recommend a decent (and ideally free!) tool that will do this for me? Cheers

    It definitely isn't definatley

I can recommend WavePad[^] It's as simple as: 1. Select the part you want in a seperate file 2. Edit -> Copy to New 3. Save the new one.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/[^] should work too for this task.

I like Adobe Audition, but it is pricey. Audacity is free and works, but I find the Audition easier to use. http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/[^]
