Clickity[^] I would be lying if I said I wasn't more than a little worried about a zillion more Mexicans than usual headed this way (desperate scared ones at that). I wonder what their plan is. I hope it's a good one, it's getting REALLY hard to find ammo here. It's not like we have the means to take care of them, their predecessors are a good portion of the cause of a lot of our current problems all ready. Health care, unemployment, crime, drugs, Democrat votes, etc... 1 me ;) But if you must, at least post an explaination or I won't take it to heart.

this is a thread waiting to be flamed ;P

----------------------------------------------------------- HACK: To program a computer in a clever, virtuosic, and wizardly manner. Ordinary computer jockeys merely write programs; hacking is the domain of digital poets. Hacking is a subtle and arguably mystical art, equal parts wit and technical ability, that is rarely appreciated by non-hackers.

I heard the opposite. Hard economic times in the U.S. was making it hard for them to find work at all and they were returning. I read one article about an illegal immigrant from Guatemala that returned home on a bus from the U.S. because he could no longer find work. It also reported that the Guatemalan government paid for his ticket home... Which I found odd.

I don't want to shoot anybody. But I guarantee that this situation will force a lot of people to protect themselves and their families. So again, I hope the power that be have a good plan.

Yeah, I'd heard the same joyous news around a month ago. Never noticed any thinning of the local infestation, but was optimistic nonetheless. But that was before news that Mexico's economy was on the verge of tanking. I wonder if the news of them heading home because of our economy was just wishful thinking or speculation.

The flow of legal migration is shifting. The border patrol is finding fewer attemptees. Remittances are down sharply.

Did you read the article???? It's not talking about the "normal" stream of job seekers; it's about contingency planning for if the Mexican govt fails and the country disintegrates into anarchy and warlordism.

It was a steady stream in one direction, now it seems to be back and forth, some coming, some going back. Weak analogy, I know.
