I Choose a play list and hit random on repeat...... I have 800 hrs of techno music on my main machine so it keeps me in the groove for as long as my mind can keep up. But I also tend to choose play lists by the amount of burden I am undertaking... -Trance : Working out an new class. -Rap : Stupid repetitive cleaning ( syntax cleaning ). -Techno : Debugging and deciding what it is that needs to be done next. -Heavy Metal : only when I am really in a bad mood.... -Johnny Cash : first thing when I am hung over.....

I hate it when I find a song (like Just Dance) long before others do, then it gets uber-popular and I get sick of it. It's been in my head all day!!!

Hey if you can't handle your job drunk you have no business doing it. :-\ I learned that while working at various labs (with HIV, Radioactive materials, explosives, small animals, and Angry drunks)... (but not all at once.. that would be to much for me at one time...)

I'm sitting here at my desk getting ready to start coding. The thought crossed my mind, "I wonder what the people at the Code Project listen to while they code." (Yeah... I might be stalling just a little bit...) I'm not asking what you like in general, but more when you are in the process of coding (Is there a difference?). Do you find that certain types of music help with coding vs debugging? I'm afraid that the answer will be similar to my answer to this question... Depends on the day. If I'm trying to figure something out, then I like it as quiet as possible. If it's just grunt work, then I like just about anything lively. What I can't do is listen to books on tape. It's a little to much distraction. Anyway, I'm curious to know what works for y'all.

It changes from time to time but lately I listen to All Chilled @ 181.FM. It's in the Ambient category in iTunes but its not ambient. It's got more personality and great to work by. If you don't do iTunes you can grab it from here: http://www.181.fm/playing.php?station=181-chilled&embed=1[^] The only fault I have for it is they need to increase their library. After a few days you start hearing all the same songs again.

Damn it now I've got it as well..... That song should be banned by law :( Usually I just listen to some progressive rock or metal when coding.
