Rickard Andersson wrote: When you are grown-up, you don't do these kind of stuff! HA! I went to a board-gaming convention a couple of months ago, in Birmingham (UK) and I was one of the youngest people there at 29. I know for a fact that Diplomacy is HUGE in Sweden - the Swedes actually have a reputation for it (admittedly as back-stabbing scum in-game and really nice people out-of-game, but it's more of a reputation than most nations). Believe me, while your hobbies may change, the nature of them doesn't necessarily have to. In all seriousness now: Michael has a point. You have no choice but to grow up in some respects but you can (and should) still have childlike fun when the situation permits (and if it never does then you should change the situation). Unfortunately, most people don't and that makes it seem like growing up means losing your childish ability to enjoy yourself; that isn't the case. Paul

Rickard Andersson wrote: I also love Disney movies!! What I find really cool is that you have the balls to admit to that, as a seventeen year old. At 17, I wouldn't have admitted to anything like that. In all honesty, I've never been that keen on Disney Movies (except Lion King, which rules!). Nothing to do with them being childish, just not my taste. If I want childish humour, I look to stuff like Road Trip and American Pie. What I do love is pro-wrestling. That's about as childish as you can get and you won't find many 29 year olds (at least in the UK) admitting to that, but I'm hooked... Nearly every Friday night, in with a curry in time for the wrestling, great stuff. Enjoy what you want to enjoy and never deny it, just have fun. Paul

The subject say it all! So, why? Is there any good reasons? Does life become more fun, no! Can you give me and everyone else here a good reason to why get grown-up? You're only as young as you feel. Unfortuantely, I feel like I'm about 45 right now.

you grow up automatically when you realize that as a kid, your parents, teachers, priests etc.. have lied to you about the most imporant things in life. You also grow up when you have been abused, when your girlfriend cheats on you and when your boss treats you like sht. You grow up when someone close to you dies or hurts so badly that they cannot talk anymore. You grow up when the banks keep pestering you and the government takes all your money on taxes. It will happen.... eventually... Jeremy Pullicino Professional C++ Developer Done any hacking lately?

The only reason you stop doing things like Lego and treehouse building is because you either get a job/family/whatever that takes up all your time and you don't bother reserving time for yourself, or, you find better hobbies. I still ride my bike around the suburbs and jump off gutters. I still play with fireworks, play video games and climb up trees. I don't play with lego anymore because I mortgaged a home which allowed me the insane fun of knocking out walls. I don't toboggan down slopes, I snowboard. While climbing trees is fun, hopping in a car and heading into the mountains to climb hundred metre rockwalls is even more fun, with the added bonus of getting to use cool gadgets. I still get greasy fixing my pushbike, but I also get greasy fixing my car, and driving my car is a whole lot more fun than sitting in the back seat while Mum or Dad drives. And if you think that growing up means no more radio controlled cars then you're wrong. Some good friends of mine have taken their love for radio controlled cars further than most, and why stop at cars when you can add planes, helicopters, boats - whatever your Visa will supply you with. Growing up means you have the chance to experience more fun things than ever before, with a bigger budget than ever before. It's all about your attitude, not your age. cheers, Chris Maunder

I wish everyone in the whole world would have the same thought like you and me about that. :) In Sweden, there is a concern where they sell R/C cars with real engine (or almost). I don't know the exact word in English... but it's not a battery driven engine... :) They had one car that had an 11,98cc engine!! Can you belive it!! it's about 3 horsepower!!!!!! Wow! in US it would be $700.... Rickard Andersson@Suza Computing C# and C++ programmer from SWEDEN! UIN: 50302279 E-Mail: nikado@pc.nu Speciality: I love C#, ASP.NET and C++!
