This reminds me of something I read the paper a couple of days ago, basically it was along the lines of Nelson Mandela being critical of the US for wanting to go after Saddam/Irag. A journalist made a comment like "Who are you to be telling us what we should/should not do?" I have exactly same sentiment towards the US, "Just who the hell do you think you are, telling the rest of the world what's best?"

I just read an article[^] in Spiegel (a german newspaper) about the US view of the German politics towards Iraq. Well there will be parliament elections in Germany this month. And then I read that the former US ambassador in Bonn said (roughly translated): "A change of government in Germany would be appreciated in Washington. And for your country it would be the best thing, too". :mad: What the f***? Who do these people think they are? That's always the same. The americans don't let people judge what they think is best for them. No, we are americans we know what's best for your, just relax we take care of it. :wtf: What kind of focking statement is this? He's not a man from the street's after all?!? Oh I forgot he's a citizen of the great US of A. Now that justifies everything... Cheers ?? Sounds like a liberal democrat - they always sound like that. They're smarter than the rest of us and know better than we how to run our lives, so they do their utmost to steal all the earnings we have to pay themselves to pass laws that make it impossible to live. After all, they know best... Pay them no mind - although they have control of the government, they don't speak for anyone here but the very stupid and helpless. I've read dozens (maybe hundreds) of non-Americans making derogatory comments about the American government here in the CP forums. I've read many, many similar comments by non-Americans in the world's media. I've read/heard dozens of foreign ambassadors, ministers, etc... complain about US leaders or policies. Give us a break and stop being childish. The German government is the same as all the rest and can certainly stand-up to a few silly comments by a former ambassador. I'm curious Mike, Do you really think/feel the rest of the worlds opinion has an effect on the internal US politics. From here I have never heard strong voices of opinion as to which US presidential candidate is best. Sure pundits try to pick the winner. This wasn't an official US opinion given by our executive, judicial or legislative branch of government to the German people or it's government. It was an "off the cuff" remark by a "former" ambassador made to the press. Nothing more. To use your analogy - it would be like you making a casual comment to an acquaintance that you think an old friend could do better than his current girlfriend. Maybe not the most classy thing to say, but not something to get bent out of shape about.

Buy a local newspaper in your home town. Look at the editorial section for editorials about the US and Iraq and the on going conflict.
