maybe these links will help... google search for 'embed image in mp3'... http://www.richardfarrar.com/embedding-album-art-in-mp3-files/[^] http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-vista/embed-pictures-in-mp3-and-wma-files-using-windows-media-player/[^] http://lifehacker.com/397258/find-and-embed-album-art-in-your-mp3-collection[^] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3[^] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3[^] A little tip: I usually find that wikipedia has alot of info when working with file formats, specifically details about the structure of the file.

your hopes are answered... you are wrong :-D see the post i left for the OP for some interesting links... at first i assumed the same as you and thought WMP just linked the files with the images as in a lot of instances i always see album art as a seperate image file. though i suppose in the instance of 'album' art it is more practical to store the image once if it is to be used by multiple tracks, rather then embedding the same image in every track on the album
